Director, Michael Dixon

Michael Dixon is currently in his 1st year as the band director at Pecan Trail Intermediate

Prior to coming to PT , Mr. Dixon was Head Band Director at A&M Consolidated Middle School for 13 years and assistant band director at CSMS for two years. Under the direction of Mr. Dixon the AMCMS Cat Band had received first division awards and best in class for the Blinn College and American Classic music festivals. AMCMS Bands had been awarded a superior rating in sight reading consistently for 11 years and had been awarded a sweepstakes award for 8 years and counting. As well as teaching in College Station, he has taught for Blinn College as the applied horn instructor.

Michael received his Bachelors of Music in Education (BM Ed.) in 2002 from West Texas A&M University and his Masters in Music (M.M) in 2012 from Stephen F. Austin State University. He had the opportunity in college to study horn under Ron Lemon and conducting with Dr. Gary Garner.

Along with teachingperforms with the Bryan Theatre Company and regularly gigs around town during the holiday seasons. Before coming to the Brazos Valley he was assistant horn with the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra for two years.

Professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) and the Texas Bandmaster’s Association (TBA).

In his free time Michael is active at Living Hope Baptist Church, playing golf, and traveling during the summers.
